Total scutes 30 to 32; vertical striae on scales continuous or overlapping, numerous small perforations on hind part of scale. Distinguished from S. zunasi by having more lower gill rakers and a deeper body; from S. hualiensis by the absence of black tips to its caudal and dorsal fins; from S. fimbriata and S. albella by the continuous striae on its scales.: fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
