Longfin gunnel
📖 Overview
Longfin gunnel (Pholis clemensi) is a ray-finned fish of the family Pholidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 13 cm. It occurs at depths between 7 and 64 metres. With a trophic level of 3.2, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

Dorsal spines (total): 87 - 90; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 50 - 53. Caudal small; pectorals ovoid; pelvic fins minute . Color in life variable, magenta and silver; dark marks at base of dorsal fin in about 15 light targets, and vague darker inverted U's on lower part of body; head somewhat darker above with a light mark running back from eye .: eel-like.
