📖 Overview

Samoan fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus walshi) is a ray-finned fish of the family Labridae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in reef-associated environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 6.3 cm. It occurs at depths between 37 and 46 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

This species is distinguished by the following characters: D XI,9; A III,9; pectoral fin rays 15; sixth dorsal spine longest; interspinous membranes of dorsal fin of males higher than spine tips; pelvic fin of male very long, 2.65-2.85 in SL; rounded caudal fin; lateral line scales 17+6; median predorsal scales 5; cheek with 1 horizontal row of scales .: fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
