New Caledonian soft-coral pipefish (Siokunichthys striatus), first described by Fricke, 2004 is a small fish in the family Syngnathidae (order Syngnathiformes). Adults typically reach 9.30 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 0 to 5 metres. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.The species is kept in the aquarium hobby. Care requirements and behaviour align broadly with other Syngnathidae kept in the hobby.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 26. This species is characterized by the striae on the ventral portion of the opercle; no longitudinal ridge on the opercle; 26 dorsal fin rays; 9-10 pectoral fin rays; 14 trunk rings; 43 tail rings; 5.5 subdorsal rings; dorsal fin origin on 1st tail ring; snout length 2.8 in head length, its depth 2.2 in snout length .: eel-like.
