The Sea of Japan is one of the most productive fisheries in the North Pacific. Yellowtail (buri), horse mackerel, saury, and salmon dominate commercial harvest. The seas warm Tsushima Current meets cold Liman Current, creating a productivity front. Japanese aquaculture pioneered yellowtail farming here.
