Antrorse spined gurnard (Pterygotrigla multiocellata) is a ray-finned fish of the family Triglidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 24.1 cm. It occurs at depths between 178 and 379 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator.
Dorsal spines (total): 7 - 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 12; Anal soft rays: 11 - 13. This species is distinguished by the following characters: presence of antrorse spine at base of AIO spine, AIO moderate to long (6-22% SL); long pectoral fin (40-52% SL); moderate eye (8-12% SL); pterygiophores exposed along base of first dorsal fin (large plates including one in advance of 1st D1 spine); long cleithral spine (13-20%SL); short gill rakers (1-2% SL) .: fusiform / normal; Cross section: angular.
