📖 Overview
Photonectes Cornutus (Photonectes cornutus), first described by Beebe, 1933 is a tiny fish in the family Stomiidae (order Stomiiformes). Adults typically reach 1.90 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Deep-water waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal soft rays (total): 15; Anal soft rays: 18. This species is distinguished from its congeners by lacking the blue luminous tissue on body and the presence of a short dorsal appendage on stem of the mental barbel proximally to the bulb and a long distal appendage extending from the distal tip of the bulb (see Beebe, 1933, Ref. 120405;fig. 6)Cross section: compressed.
