📖 Overview
Bulbless dragonfish (Photonectes caerulescens), first described by Regan & Trewavas, 1930 is a medium-sized fish in the family Stomiidae (order Stomiiformes). Adults typically reach 15.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 100 to 2000 metres. It occurs in Deep-water waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 18; Anal soft rays: 21. Dorsal and anal rays conspicuous, not covered with thick skin. Barbel short, without distinct bulb. Presence of midventral blue luminous band .: elongated.
