📖 Overview
Scalemouth jobfish (Parapristipomoides squamimaxillaris), first described by Kami, 1973 is a fish in the family Lutjanidae (order Perciformes). It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 130 to 460 metres. It occurs in Subtropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.The species is important as a food fish and considered a sustainable seafood option under current management. As a member of the Lutjanidae, it shares life-history and morphological traits with its relatives in the group.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 8. Head relatively small. Interorbital space slightly convex. Snout somewhat pointed; lower jaw protruding slightly; jaws extending to below front part of pupil. Maxilla scaled. Pectoral fins long, reaching level of anus. Scale rows on back parallel to lateral line. Overall color is silvery pink, darker dorsally; caudal fin yellow, other fins whitish to slightly pink.: fusiform / normal; Cross section: oval.
