Ice fishing turns frozen lakes into productive fisheries. Once the ice reaches 4+ inches (safe for foot traffic), anglers drill holes and drop small jigs or bait to lethargic but still-feeding fish. Modern ice fishing includes portable shelters, propane heaters, flasher sonars, and underwater cameras - a far cry from the bucket-and-rod tradition.

🎒 Gear Needed

Ice auger (hand or gas), short ice rod (24-32 inches), ice fishing reel, monofilament or fluorocarbon line, jigs and tip-ups, ice cleats, warm clothing, portable shelter (optional), flasher/sonar.
