Somalia catfish (Bagrus urostigma) is a ray-finned fish of the family Bagridae. It inhabits freshwater waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 72 cm. With a trophic level of 3.9, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal soft rays: 10 - 11. Head smooth above . Maxillary barbel reaching middle of adipose fin in the young and the end of the rayed dorsal in the adult; nasal barbel reaching anterior border of eye. External mandibular barbels reaching the branchial fissure; occipital processus reaching the interneural bone . Longest dorsal fin ray a little longer than head; distance between adipose and dorsal fin equals base of the latter; adipose fin twice as long as the distance between dorsal and adipose fin . Caudal fin forked, upper lobe slightly the longer. Pectoral spine very strong, prominent and strongly serrated on inner side . Pelvic fins under last dorsal fin ray. Coloration: reddish brown above, yellowish white beneath and the caudal fin dotted with black.
