Rock-grazer; occurs over rock, which are either anchored and part of the hard core of the coast, interlocking rubble, or even sandstone slabs lining a sand beach but not loose pebbles rolling about in the surf and silted-over habitats . Restricted to the upper rocky habitat; algae browser; forages in schools; maternal mouthbrooder .
