📖 Overview
Chinese short-tailed hairtail (Trichiurus brevis), first described by Wang & You, 1992 is a large fish in the family Trichiuridae (order Scombriformes). Adults typically reach 54.50 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Tropical waters. Diet is predominantly piscivorous, targeting other fish and larger prey.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 127 - 132; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 100 - 110; Vertebrae: 147 - 155. Body extremely elongated, ribbon-like. Top of supraoccipital crest situated vertically above posterior margin of eye. Very slightly pigmented on upper part of anterior dorsal fin membranes. Posterior margin of preopercle indistinct because it is almost embedded below membranes, but anterior margin of preopercle very visible because it clearly projected externally. First anal fin spine base situated below 32nd-35th dorsal fin ray base. .: elongated; Cross section: compressed.
