Derwent flounder
📖 Overview
Derwent flounder (Taratretis derwentensis), first described by Last, 1978 is a small fish in the family Pleuronectidae (order Pleuronectiformes). Adults typically reach 12.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 3 to 50 metres. It occurs in Temperate waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal soft rays (total): 69 - 80; Anal soft rays: 50 - 59. Body deep (42-51% SL). Snout not distinctly extended. Mouth small, oblique. Scales very small, rather firmly attached; ctenoid on both sides, covering all of head. Pectoral fin rays on right side 8-11, left 7-9. Caudal fin rays 14-16 .: short and / or deep; Cross section: compressed.
