Rhabdosargus Niger (Rhabdosargus niger), first described by Tanaka & Iwatsuki, 2013 is a medium-sized fish in the family Sparidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 28.90 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Tropical waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D XI,13; A III, 11; 11-12 scale rows below lateral line; 5.5 scale rows between the fifth dorsal-fin spine base and lateral line; 53-55 pored lateral-line scales; scaleless preopercular flange; 8-9 gill rakers on the lower limb; head and body silvery-black; no golden longitudinal line on the body; pelvic and anal fins are dusky gray .: short and / or deep; Cross section: compressed.
