Body with 7 or 8 prominent dark stripes along the scale rows above the lateral line; 7 - 9 faint stripes below (may be lost after preservation). Five pectoral filaments, moderately long, 31-43% of SL with 5th longest. Large upper jaw (mean 17% of SL) . Lateral line squamation unbranched, extending to upper end of lower caudal fin lobe. Lower tip of 7th proximal pterygiophore of 1st dorsal fin directed backward .: fusiform / normal.
