Found in shallow river with rapid flow over a substrate of gravel and cobbles and with river banks composed of stands of Pandanus and other riparian vegetation. Collected close to the bank among submerged vegetation .

Dorsal soft rays (total): 12; Anal soft rays: 8. Oreichthys incognito is istinguished from its congeners by a combination of following characters: 21-22+1 scales in the longitudinal series with 5 pored scales; ½3/1/1½ scales in the transverse row; 8 predorsal scales and a vertical black bar on the dorsal fin . : fusiform / normal.
