Usually occurs in large, quiet and deep, often turbid waters . Found in medium to large-sized rivers . Reported to occur over gravel substrate in clear, swift, small streams up to rapidly flowing stretches of large rivers. Feed on insect larvae, especially trichopterans. Rarely seen in markets .
With 15-18 pre-dorsal scales; a faint, broad longitudinal stripe on the sides; 2-9 faint (sometimes missing), short vertical bars .: elongated.
