Adults inhabis sandy pools of headwaters, creeks and small to large rivers. Also found in quiet areas of lakes . They feed on microcrustacea, midge larvae and pupae, and some terrestrial insects . Migratory behaviour is undetermined . Very similar to Notropis cahabae .
