📖 Overview
Forgotten argentine (Nansenia oblita), first described by Facciolà, 1887 is a medium-sized fish in the family Microstomatidae (order Argentiniformes). Adults typically reach 18.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 300 to 500 metres. It occurs in Temperate waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10; Vertebrae: 42 - 45. Branchiostegal rays 4. Predorsal length longer than 50% SL. Proximal part of adipose fin unpigmented. Entire body covered with guanine .: elongated; Cross section: compressed.
