🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 17 - 19; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7 - 8. Nanochromis teugelsi is characterized by the absence of scales on nape, cheeks, and chest, but is has a fully scaled opercle . It has an elevated upper lateral line, with about half or more contiguous with the dorsal-fin base; it has 15-23 upper lateral-line scales and 4-8 lower lateral-line scales . It is also characterized by the absence of a supraneural bone .: fusiform / normal.
