Similar to Micropterus punctulatus but can be distinguished by having 68-84 (usually 71 or more) pored lateral-line scales, 27 or more scales around caudal peduncle, black blotches along upper back not reaching dorsal fin base, and blotches along midside not coalescing into black stripe on caudal peduncle .: fusiform / normal.
