📖 Overview
Dwarf ctenopoma (Microctenopoma nanum), first described by Günther, 1896 is a small fish in the family Anabantidae (order Anabantiformes). Adults typically reach 6.70 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.The species is kept in the aquarium hobby. Care requirements and behaviour align broadly with other Anabantidae kept in the hobby.

Dorsal spines (total): 13 - 18; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 11; Anal spines: 6 - 10; Anal soft rays: 7 - 11; Vertebrae: 26 - 28. Diagnosis: interorbital space narrow, 3.3-4.5 times in head length; 13-18 dorsal and 6-10 anal fin spines; flanks with even and distinct bars at all sizes; in adults, subopercle usually serrated and caudal fin squared; caudal peduncle developed; breeding males never marked with orange .
