Marine; freshwater; brackish; demersal; depth range 1 - 40 m . Tropical; 27°N - 34°S, 61°E - 154°E West Pacific: east of Pakistan through the coastal waters of the Indian Ocean and the Indo-Australian Archipelago to the Philippines, New Guinea and to the Repulse Bay, Queensland; through the South China Sea to Hainan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Kwangtung.
