📖 Overview
Bearded croaker (Johnius amblycephalus), first described by Bleeker, 1855 is a medium-sized fish in the family Sciaenidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 25.00 cm in maximum length. It is diadromous, migrating between freshwater and marine environments during its life cycle. Recorded depth range: 1 to 40 metres. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

Marine; freshwater; brackish; demersal; depth range 1 - 40 m . Tropical; 27°N - 34°S, 61°E - 154°E West Pacific: east of Pakistan through the coastal waters of the Indian Ocean and the Indo-Australian Archipelago to the Philippines, New Guinea and to the Repulse Bay, Queensland; through the South China Sea to Hainan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Kwangtung.
