Hyphessobrycon Otrynus (Hyphessobrycon otrynus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Acestrorhamphidae. It inhabits freshwater waters in pelagic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 3.4 cm. With a trophic level of 2.9, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

This species is distinguished from all other known congeners, except for H. diancistrus, by the presence of two very large bony hooks (in adult males) curving dorsally on each side of anal fin, and caudalfin rays black at distal third of their length (distal tips of caudal-fin rays hyaline) .: fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
