Facultative air-breathing in the genus ; Generally found in shallow gravel and cobble-laden headwater streams and braided rivers 350-800 m above sea level . Preys on invertebrates . Spawning occurs in spring from October to November . Eggs are laid amongst cobbles and gravels .
