Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D 10; A 7; pectoral-fn rays 18; scale rows in longitudinal series 51; snout barbels 3; supraocular tentacle with numerous short branches on posterior margin, without lateral branches; small flap on uppermost preopercular spine base; fresh specimens with reddish K-shaped marking on caudal peduncle just before caudal-fn base .Cross section: oval.
