📖 Overview

Cebu shrimpgoby (Cryptocentrus cebuanus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gobiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 10 cm. It occurs at depths between 2 and 10 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 6 - 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10. Characterized by greyish body color; sides with 8-10 brown bars, two bars below anterior and posterior parts of second dorsal fin darker than other; yellowish narrow interspace between dark bars; head with bluish or whitish spots; margin of first dorsal fin between first and third spines with blackish spot; united pelvic fins, presence of frenum; longitudinal scale series 85; head without scales; greatest depth of body 5.1-5.4 in SL; lanceolate caudal fin, longer than head .: elongated; Cross section: circular.
