📖 Overview
Colored snakehead (Channa pulchra), first described by Britz, 2007 is a medium-sized fish in the family Channidae (order Anabantiformes). Adults typically reach 30.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 34 - 36; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 23 - 25; Vertebrae: 44 - 45. Can be differentiated from all congeners by its unique color pattern consisting of a number of small back spots on the cheeks (less than half of pupil size), usually 4 white semicircular narrow bands on pectoral fin, one anterior dorsal fin blotch, series of reddish-orange blotches and numerous tiny black spots on the body .: elongated; Cross section: circular.
