Borostomias Pacificus (Borostomias pacificus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Stomiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. It occurs at depths between 350 and 1400 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12 - 14; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 17 - 19. Teeth on maxilla 10 to 13. POSTORB double. AC slightly arched. Barbel long, about 1.5 to 2.0 times as head length; stem sparsely pigmented, ending in a black swollen part with a prominent photophore on each side followed by a large ovate white bulb with a long filament arising at their junction.: elongated; Cross section: compressed.
