📖 Overview
Not every fish grouping is a school. Shoaling is the looser cousin - fish stay near each other but not in perfect polarised formation. Rainbow fish, tetras when relaxed, and many cichlids shoal but do not always school. When threatened, shoals tighten into schools - a moment often visible in aquariums as a fright response.

Attraction to conspecifics via visual, lateral line, and olfactory cues. No strict alignment or synchronisation. Individuals can move independently within the general grouping.
