Blackhead shrimpgoby (Amblyeleotris melanocephala) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gobiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 9.4 cm. It occurs at depths between 20 and 62 metres. Head and nape dark brown; a few yellowish spots on pectoral-fin base and opercle margin; second dorsal-fin rays I-13; proportional length of interpelvic connecting membrane relative to longest pelvic-fin ray 0.46-0.55; ventral frenum present; midline of nape naked, sides scaled above midpoint between preopercle and opercle . longitudinal scale series 92-101 .: elongated; Cross section: compressed.
