ASC Certification

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certifies farmed seafood against standards that address feed sourcing, chemical use, ecosystem impacts, worker rights, and community relations. The ASC was founded in 2010 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative. Standards exist for salmon, shrimp, tilapia, trout, pangasius, bivalves, and several other major aquaculture species. ASC certification is the aquaculture equivalent of MSC for wild-catch — both use independent third-party auditors and allow certified products to carry a recognisable eco-label.
