Strontium (Reef Trace)
A reef trace element consumed by corals and coralline algae for calcification - part of the classic Balling reef supplementation trio.
Unit: ppm Code: SR
📖 Overview
Natural seawater contains about 8 ppm strontium. Corals and coralline algae consume it during calcification. Modern two-part supplements include strontium in trace amounts; dedicated strontium supplementation is less common than it was in the 1990s but still practised by some SPS keepers.
