📖 Overview
Argentine croaker (Umbrina canosai), first described by Berg, 1895 is a large fish in the family Sciaenidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 53.30 cm in maximum length. Reported lifespan reaches approximately 26 years. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Subtropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

Dorsal spines (total): 11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21 - 25; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 7 - 8. Upper part of body with many dark longitudinal stripes; no well defined dark spots at bases of pectoral fins .: fusiform / normal.
