📖 Overview
Tonga escolar (Tongaichthys robustus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gempylidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 30 cm. It occurs at depths between 288 and 312 metres. With a trophic level of 3.9, it is a mid-level predator.

Scales on cheeks enlarged, elongate and slightly overlapping. Color is dark brown above, slightly paler below.: fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
