Red Sea flathead
📖 Overview
Red Sea flathead (Thysanophrys springeri), first described by Knapp, 2013 is a small fish in the family Platycephalidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 8.90 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 1 to 7 metres. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

Marine; reef-associated; depth range 1 - 7 m . Tropical Indian Ocean: mainly Red Sea, but with one specimen from the Gulf of Tadjourna, off Djbouti.
