Tatia Nigra (Tatia nigra), first described by Pinheiro, 2008 is a small fish in the family Auchenipteridae (order Siluriformes). Adults typically reach 11.70 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.The species is kept in the aquarium hobby. Care requirements and behaviour align broadly with other Auchenipteridae kept in the hobby.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5; Anal soft rays: 10; Vertebrae: 32. Diagnosed uniquely from other species of the genus Tatia by its brown body color and short postcleithral process about 60.0% HL. Can be differentiated also from other congeners by its postcleithral spine not reaching vertical through origin of dorsal fin; nasal with well developed medial flanges; and total vertebrae 32 . : short and / or deep.
