Distinguished from all species of Sternarchogiton by having the following characters: dorsal profile of head straight; black margins of the pectoral and anal fins; ossified enlarged canals in the first to fourth infraorbitals; one row of conical teeth on the dentary; and teeth on the premaxilla absent .
