This species is distinguished by its relatively deep and compressed body and head, with greatest body width about 2 times into greatest depth; suborbital depth about 3.5 into orbit diameter; 5.5 scale rows below origin of second dorsal fin . It is has blunter head profile with barely protruding, short and not spatulate nasal bones, and these characters are considered plesiomorphic in respect to the other members of the genus ..: elongated; Cross section: compressed.
