📖 Overview
Schistura Quaesita (Schistura quaesita), first described by Kottelat, 2000 is a small fish in the family Nemacheilidae (order Cypriniformes). Adults typically reach 5.40 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.The species is kept in the aquarium hobby. Care requirements and behaviour align broadly with other Nemacheilidae kept in the hobby.

Anterior nostril pierced on front side of a flap; processus dentiformis present; no median notch in upper lip, lower lip with median interruption; no median notch in lower jaw; caudal peduncle with elevated dorsal and ventral keels on posterior extremity, length 15.4 %SL, depth 9.4 %SL, 1.64 times in length; body depth 15.8 %SL; snout length 11.3 %SL, 49 % dorsal HL, eye diameter 5.5 %SL, 24 %HL; lateral line complete; anus about 1-2 eye diameters in front of anal-fin origin; 8.5 branched dorsal-fin rays; 5.5 branched anal-fin rays; caudal fin emarginate, with 9+8 branched rays; axillary pelvic lobe present; body with 8 broad bars, much wider than interspaces, except on caudal peduncle where interspaces are wider, irregularly shaped, the anterior ones not very distinct; 13 irregular black dots along lateral line, last one largest, immediately anterior to caudal-fin base; black bar at caudal-fin base complete but faint, except for conspicuous black vertically-elongate blotch occupying median half of fin base; dorsal-fin base with a small black blotch anteriorly, followed by a hyaline patch and a low faint grey elongate blotch .: elongated.
