Deep-body righteye flounder (Samariscus latus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Samaridae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 16 cm. With a trophic level of 3.5, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 67 - 76; Anal soft rays: 52 - 59; Vertebrae: 38 - 39. Upper jaw reaching to below anterior quarter of lower eye, length 2.8 to 3.3 times in head length. Head length 4.4 to 5.2 times in SL (Ref 12933).: short and / or deep.
