Bengal escolar (Rexea bengalensis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gempylidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 22 cm. It occurs at depths between 143 and 820 metres. With a trophic level of 4.5, it is an apex predator.
Dorsal spines (total): 19 - 20; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14 - 16; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 11 - 13; Vertebrae: 34. Spinescent gill rakers with 3 or 4 cusps.
