Occurs near the surface in shallow marshes, swamps and inundated fields . Inhabits swamps with clear water . Usually found in shallow layers of open water above beds of fine-leaved aquatic macrophytes and submerged grasses . Feeds on zooplankton and some insects. Probably too small to be marketed. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade
