Pseudoscopelus Lavenbergi (Pseudoscopelus lavenbergi) is a ray-finned fish of the family Chiasmodontidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 18.1 cm. It occurs at depths between 0 and 2100 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23 - 25; Vertebrae: 37 - 39. Differs from other species of the genus by the following three unique characters: random trunk photophores in broad band of three or more rows; postventral-fin photophores short, not extending to anus, and reaching anteriorly to very close to pelvic-fin origin; absence of maxillary photophores and presence of anteropreopercular photophores . : elongated.
