📖 Overview
Gold-lined dottyback (Pseudochromis aureolineatus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Pseudochromidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in reef-associated environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 7.1 cm. It occurs at depths between 15 and 30 metres. With a trophic level of 3.5, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.

Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26 - 27; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 15 - 16; Vertebrae: 26. This species distinguished by the following characters: 26-27 segmented dorsal-fin rays; 15-16 segmented anal fin rays; 41-43 scales in lateral line series; emarginate to strongly emarginate caudal fin; when preserved, dark grayish brown spot on opercular flap, upper part of head and body dark grayish brown, the rest abruptly pale yellowish brown; dark spots on dorsal fin absent .
