The species inhabit streams with average width and depth of 3 meters and 0.5 meters, respectively. They dwell predominantly on boulders and cobbles substratum .

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: a single pair of oral barbels; 51-56 scales in lateral-line series; fewer vertebrae and absence o dark spots on its back .: elongated; Cross section: oval.
