Facultative air-breathing in the genus ; Found in water tea-colored river with low conductivity (12 µmho/cm), visibility ~ 2m and moderate current .
Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 5. Distinguished from all congeners by having bars on the body; and from all examined Pseudancistrus except Pseudancistrus genisetiger and Pseudancistrus papariae by having an incomplete mid-dorsal plate row with 18 plates ( vs. complete with 21-25 plates). Differs from one specimen of Pseudancistrus genisetiger and the holotype of Pseudancistrus papariae by the presence of 18 continuous plates (vs. mid-dorsal row with 14 plates, then a break around the adipose fin and then 2 more plates at the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. Another specimen of Pseudancistrus papariae with complete mid-dorsal row, but plate rows not examined .: elongated.
