📖 Overview

Alcock's Smallmouthed Flounder (Psettina brevirictis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Bothidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 8 cm. It occurs at depths between 37 and 137 metres. With a trophic level of 3.5, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 78 - 85; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 60 - 67. Eyed side brownish; both eyed and blind sides with dark blotches on edges of body, dorsal and anal fins; 2-3 dark blotches on lateral line; pectoral fin of eyed side with dark area and 11-13 rays; pectoral fin on blind side with 11-12 rays; caudal fin with broad dark band; .: short and / or deep.
