Rei killifish (Profundulus rei) is a ray-finned fish of the family Profundulidae. It inhabits freshwater waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 4.4 cm. With a trophic level of 3.1, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 13; Anal soft rays: 9 - 11. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: characteristic pigmentation pattern similar to that of P. punctatus and P. oaxacae; number of lateral scales to that of dorsal-anal scales 0.32-0.38; ratio between anal rays and the number of lateral scales 0.23-0.35 .: fusiform / normal; Cross section: oval.
